Mission
To provide exceptional pre-hospital care and education for the rural communities we serve through the formal cooperation of local governments and dedicated employees.
Coverage Area
Wayland Area EMS provides emergency medical transport for the City of Wayland and the townships of Leighton, Dorr, Salem, Monterey, Hopkins, Wayland, Watson, Martin and Orangeville.
Services
WAEMS is an ALS emergency transport agency licensed by the State of Michigan. We are staffed 24/7 with two ALS ambulances and six days a week with a third ALS ambulance until 10 PM.
About us
Wayland Area EMS began operating in February 1976 after the Archer-Hampel Funeral Home decided to discontinue due to increased government regulations. WAEMS began as a BLS service and upgraded to ALS in 1987.
Vital Care Members
WAEMS offers a Vital Care Membership to the residents that live in the service area.
Education
WAEMS is also an educational facility. We offer CPR classes and testing and also are working to have EMR and EMT classes available in the near future.
